Read to Feed
Children of LVCM were invited to participate in a mission program through Heifer International in the spring of 2011. Children & Youth registered to read age-appropriate, parent approved books during the spring. Friends, neighbors, cousins, grandparents were asked to sponsor them by providing a donation for each book completed. A group of faithful children & youth signed up to help. Collectively they raised $1,455.00 for Heifer International. Heifer International is an exciting program providing healing and hope to millions of starving families in 65 countries around the world since 1944. Lykens Valley Campmeeting children and youth joined these efforts by raising the funds to help a family in need.
Norma Good wrote: "Very special thanks to all who made contributions to Heifer for the children that participated in the 'Read to Feed' program -- as you could tell, I was overwhelmed with the $1,455.00 raised (plus a gift of $10 cash that day)! Please express my gratitude for the wonderful readers... What a super job they did to help boys and girls and their parents to have food and income to better their loves."
